I knew Ray as a friend some years ago, and would love the opportunity to re-new that friendship. We spent many happy hours together, on courses and at home. My daughter Odette would benefit from contact with Ray, as my son Alex did so many years ago, learning a love and respect for the natural world, and gaining a confidence and self-reliant attitude along the way. Ray loves to pass on his skills, and loves nothing better than a good story around a campfire, and if there’s music too…. he’s in Woodlore heaven!!!

Ray has been my inspiration, through his diligent observations, patience, teachings and appreciation for local knowledge, coupled with his rich sense of humour. He is the Master Woodsman, who has learnt to live in harmony with nature, not fighting it or trying to impress by overcoming hostile conditions. Neither does he ever suggest that women are less able to cope, but instead he sees their strengths and contributions in wilderness situations. To spend a day in his company would be the most amazing and unforgettable experience and a great honour.

To meet Ray in person would be fantastic. He has such a wealth of experience across the globe, and I would imagine there is no end to the stories he could tell. It would be fantastic to learn from such a world renowned bushcrafter, even for a day. Love his outlook on life and his ideas of our relationship with the natural world. What a super prize this would be.
