It may seem like a lot to pay, but this is certainly a well-made piece of kit, Not sure if the unit itself is made in Germany but it certainly has the high quality no cut corners feel to it, the button and colour selection detent work and feel great. It comes with a surprisingly helpful belt holster that easily attaches to belts up to about 60mm wide. The holster is elastic and it takes a bit of effort to shove the torch into it, a lanyard to wear round your wrist is included, it's a bit awkward feeling, but it's included anyway.
So gave it some testing, If you're looking for a torch that works like a spotlight, this isn't it, the light diffuses out so it's fine for walking around a forest, at longer ranges it will throw a modest amount of white light at whatever you aim it at, good enough to find things that are not actively trying to hide. I also managed to drop the torch about a metre onto the stone pavement, it's got an aluminium casing that got a bit scuffed/dented but no hiccups in the electrics.
Oh, and you may want to read the enclosed instructions to figure out how it toggles through different modes.
As of the colour settings: Red, standard stuff, prevents you from losing your night vision when you just need to walk a few steps in the dark, really handy around camp and absolutely needed if you want to be able to look at the stars.
Green, "Wildlife cannot detect this frequency" I don't know about that, one sec let me google something... Hmm well its a lot to do with deer and hog hunting, I'm not a hunter but it's nice to have options, you should do your own research and decide if you should use red or green light when trying not to spook critters, there's a lot to this subject.
Blue, Its blue! It feels a bit like using a black light/UV light, not sure what wavelengths it is, but the blue light feels quite warm on my hand so there's likely a good bit of UV in there, It does the job of a backlight for sure, makes you feel like a fancy detective, spots any scraps of paper or anything bright coloured like that, I imagine it would be very useful for tracking blood over fallen leaves.
All in all, it seems well made, likely to last for many years of actual use, a solid recommendation. It makes me want to take up hunting just to try it out.
