I really enjoyed this book, it was very touching in places and showed his breadth of his knowledge and experience and how he gained that experience.
I am very dyslexic and I find Ray's books easy to read, there is a relaxed pace, an easy style, that grabbed me. I always had a lot of respect for Ray, I know why now and that respect has grown.
In the section 'going alone' he described 'me' how I prepare for a trip the planning and enjoyment and nature. I could never before describe in a way how I felt about my long distance walking and all the enjoyment I get from it. People don't understand when I say, but Ray captured everything I feel in a few pages, which really quite stunned me. I've had no one to guide me or help me and found my own path, which is clearly along the same thought pattern as Ray's. I felt afterwards, keep going, your on the right trail, don't stop, keep exploring and keep learning. This book has taught me a lot in ways I never though it could, stunned and surprised me, I'm so glad I brought it. Thank you, this book has shown me a brighter trail to follow.

Having already read Ray's book I knew a friend would love it to add to his signed collection so I ordered it direct and I can't fault the service at all.

Ray's story surprised me in all honesty. I laughed and felt his heartache throughout the read and I only have admiration for him.

As for the service. From ordering to delivery the whole process was first class.

I highly recommend Ray's book as it gives an insight into his life, which like I say; will surprise you I'm sure and as a bonus having it signed is always great.

I've been a big fan of Mr Mears for as long as I can remember. I was very much looking forward to reading this book, and was not disappointed. As with his TV programs, he manages to convey his many experiences and achievements with equal measures of confidence, self-awareness, and modesty. I've no doubt you could sit for hours listening to him talk about his experiences and you'd not be bored for a minute. Also, you'd find no trace of bravado or self-promotion. This book does not gloss over the tragedies and setbacks that Mr Mears has suffered in his life. He describes these events with the same clear insight as he does with everything else. An excellent read. Interesting and informative.

Great book, great story.
Only bad thing is that the book wasn't signed as I was hoping. They just printed the signature on paper. Maybe I had wrong expectations, but I was hoping that the book was signed by pen. Would have been a more personal touch.
But still, a great book.

Having grown up watching Ray Mears on telly, his book transports you into the world that is Bushcraft and all the adventures that come with it. His love and respect for the natural environment and the people who call it home should be a message all should take on board as we only have one world.

What a book!!!
I have truly enjoyed reading it as it was a journey into the life of Ray Mears.
Written in a way that makes you feel like you are listening to Ray tell you his story. He takes you on a journey the same way he takes you on a journey in his TV programs; Calmly, clearly, respectfully. It really felt as if I was standing next to him during all these adventures. Laughing at the jokes and crying with the sadness.
A great book by a great person.

I bought this as a gift, it arrived very quickly. Was well received by my dad, especially when he saw it was signed too.

I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the book but it is a great read.
I've taken it out while camping/hiking and I've enjoyed reading by the fire.
Having it signed by the man himself is a really nice touch.

I had already listened to the audiobook many, many times, but you can't put that on a shelf!
Incredible story, incredible life and my all-time hero to aspire to. They say, 'don't meet your heroes', but Ray is probably an exception and I can't wait to book my first course sometime soon.
5* book, would recommend to anyone.

Book received very swiftly and as expected is a great read, nice to hear how Ray learned his trade from a very young age up to the present day. Would definitely recommend this book.

The Autobiography is the best I have read of its kind (I have read a few). Fantastic read which not only gives insight into Ray's amazing life but also provides several guidelines to live by which I have already put into use in my own life. I opted for the signed copy, which I must admit added a lot for me for some reason.

Ray's TV shows has brought me countless hours of entertainment over the years, all the way from his first show 'Country Tracks'. So when I discovered, via Google search, that a signed copy of his autobiography was available for only £10 including free delivery, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Disappointingly, the biography isn't that interesting; however I am only 3 chapters in and cannot muster the interest to read further. I am hoping that when I do it does get a little more interesting. Great to have it signed by the man himself though!

A five star service from Woodlore. I'm inspired by Ray Mears, his great outdoors life, his respect for nature and its inhabitants, his TV documentaries of wildlife in North America and worldwide. I wish Ray and his company all the best in the future! Thanks Ray!

I'm not one for autobiographies, but I felt Ray has done so much for bushcraft/woodlore and humanity, that it would be an interesting read. The book shows what a modest, sensitive, caring and and intelligent person he is. Not forgetting being extremely tough and incredibly knowledgeable. Ray Mears is very much an Englishman's Englishman. A fascinating book with tremendous highs and lows. I really think bushcraft should be on the national curriculum as a must do subject, with Ray designing the course.

A rewarding read if you are at all interested in the subject of Bushcraft and/or the life of Ray Mears. For me, one of the most interesting books I have read for many years.

Brilliant book, just got it today and had difficulty putting it down. Arrived only a couple of days after ordering it (I was expecting longer as I live in EU). Would really recommend it to anyone interested in Ray's work or woods lore in general. A great book of a great man!
