Thoroughly well made and roomy and well thought out for snugging into.
Most definitely a four season feeling of warmth when all around is windy wintery and in the minus's. Field tested first week of February Ardnamurchan peninsular this year: gales and brrr bracing temperatures.

Compression sack is simple and effective. When used with a Karrimor 45ltr Sabre backpack it takes about 1/3 of the backpack up, also bit of a tight fit but goes in fine. Only used it for a couple of nights but very warm and cosy for UK weather. I'm happy with it.

Warmth to weight on this bag is excellent. It can be compressed to a reasonable size to fit in a pack but does have some volume to be considered. The centre zip works perfectly with a centre zip bivvy and the inside mesh pockets have been positioned well to not interfere with me side sleeping.

This is my second Golden Eagle sleeping bag. My first lasted around 10 years and never failed to keep me toasty. The cut off the bag gives the sleeper room to move and the front zip is the most users friendly on todays market. A truly great value for money sleeping bag. I initially used mine in a hammock on a Ray Mears first aid course and found it to be the perfect combo. It was equally well suited to my one man Hilleberg Aston tent on several backpacking trips. Now age 69 the new Golden Eagle is a continuation for hopefully many more years of camping. Good work Woodlore team. Stay safe in the future.

What an amazing sleeping bag. Oozes quality. It is far larger than I was expecting when not compressed, at least 3 times the size of my previous 4 season down sleeping bag, but does compress down to 25l in its waterproof bag. Well designed with the central zip.

Great bag, thick and warm pack size is not small but that's the compromise for warmth. I would recommend this bag for people that sleep cold and want to stay warm. The middle zip is much easier to use than a side zip. 5 stars.

Too warm to use at present but you can see it's well made and it's great to have a center zip.

Love this sleeping bag so far, very warm, well put together. The zip down the middle is a genius little tweak. For me I like to sleep on my side and perhaps read in the evening, having the front zip makes this a little more awkward, but its a small price to pay for being able to sit up in my tent in the morning and keep the lower part of my body warm. I would say it is quite a large bag, with a squeeze does just fit into the bottom of an ortlieb 60 litre dry bag. If i had to change anything I would maybe change the bag in which the sleeping bag is contained in. When you pull the straps to compress the bag, the string around the top of the bag tends to open up so you have to re-tighten it a few times. Not a problem really, but would make compressing it not only easier but more efficient.

Paid £260 for this bag and then was charged £6.50 TO HAVE IT DELIVERED. Enquired about the charge and it wasn't a mistake. Anywhere else if you spend £100 or more it would of been free delivery. Bad customer service.

I have used this for one night but the temperature only went down to 9 degrees so I was very toasty. I Had to unzip to cool off a little. The sleeping bag is of Great quality and love the zip on the top. I hope it is colder when I use it again. I am 6ft 6" so my feet are right at the bottom of the bag. I Really like the hood. Even without pulling the drawstring it fits around your head keeping you warm without a hat.

Fast delivery. Super warm, although not entirely sure I would be comfortable in minus 22, and this is my only non-positive comment. Bulky, but it's not for hiking with. Seems to be of good quality commensurate with the price. I'm 62 and 16 stone and this is long enough and snug but not overly tight.

Incredibly warm and comfortable! I'm 62 & 17 stone so no lightweight, yet this bag is amply big enough both in terms of width and length. One word of caution though, this bag is bulky! To reduce its packed size I bought a Sea to Summit compression dry sack and, although this has worked better than the supplied stuff sack, it is still all but impossible to fit into my Karrimor Sabre 45 even with every clip, zip and toggle on maximum adjustment! (It does fit into my Sabre 75 though). Though I've used it very little so far I've yet to experience any zip issues but I've consciously been careful when zipping & unzipping the bag. Fast shipping from Woodlore as always.

Great bag. Nice and warm, pretty large so loads of space to move around inside. My only grumbles are that the zip pull broke on first use and the stuff sack looks a little weak, but it has not let me down yet. Great bag for a great price.

At just under 6' 5" I don't shop for what I want - just what I want from what will fit. That said, I narrowed down my choice to this sleeping bag - partly on the confidence I feel in the brand, partly the centre top zip (I often use a hammock) and the information I received from Customer Services as to length.
It is a plain, well made bag. Fittings are of high quality and uncomplicated. Even the dreaded Velcro is arranged to minimise bother. I won't be using the bag for a while but thought I should comment on it to help taller customers. I was told the internal measurement was 7'. This reduces as you fill the width but both dimensions have proved perfect and seem to allow a much less constricted volume in which to get comfortable. The compromises on compression and weight suit me as I'm no lightweight and neither does my luggage tend to be. I was attempting to buy once and buy well - I'm happy that I have achieved this.

Amazed with how warm this is. In the Black Mountains in November I had this mostly unzipped, and was still hot. Packs quite large, even when compressed.

Mr Nick Baker

Very warm, even at minus 5 C. Great shape, foot box, body, neck and hood all excellent. Does not pack down as tightly as a down bag but is all round easier to use, maintain and clean. Only minor niggle is that the zip/zip pull, well placed in the centre, is a bit small and can catch on the fabric a lot whilst opening and closing. However, if the zip was larger it would allow more heat loss, so it is a balance I guess.

A fantastic sleeping bag, I had been using a Snugpack 9 hawk for about 9 years, and in winter, very rarely had a warm night out in a hammock. The Golden Eagle is relatively light and when compressed down not a ridiculous size. The price compared to other bags is this temp range is brilliant.

Exactly as described. This is a reasonably priced bit of kit when you look at the price of down bags. So far all bits bought through Woodlore have arrived VERY quickly (and I live in the far north west Scottish highlands) and has been great quality. Very pleased customer!

Having dithered for a long time on whether to go for a new sleeping bag or not, I finally plucked up the courage to order the Golden Eagle. So far I am really impressed. It looks well made and is very comfortable. Plenty of space inside and not too constrictive. I love the centre zip, far more practical for hammocks and my comfy tent cot. Only downside is the pack size which is pretty large, but not really a problem for me.

I wanted to wait to do this review until I had really tested it, and it has worked great! I live in the north of Sweden and it has really done its job! We have had some cold nights and I have been very warm every night now in mid December. Very pleased!

I took the Golden Eagle on a trip to hike up Kilimanjaro at the start of October. The weather at night was between -1 and -10c but I was expecting it to be colder. I am a warm person and at -1 to -5 I found it a little too warm and had to open the zip to keep confortable but at -10 it was perfect. It is very easy to get into, lighter than many competitors and packs relatively small. I am a big person at 6ft2 and very broad but I had no issues fitting in comfortably. An excellent sleeping bag!

I bought this bag for the Journeyman course and it performed well. It was both warm and comfortable. I already have the Osprey bag made by Nanok so was a little disappointed to find this bag is made in Poland and not Norway.

Great warm sleeping bag.

Took this on a trek to Everest Base Camp last October, along with a cotton liner to keep it clean. At lower altitudes I was worried about overheating, but there wasn't a problem. The bag kept me warm without making me sweat. At higher altitudes (down to about -10C we reckoned) I was perfectly warm within a minute or two of climbing in to the bag (with only the cotton liner & my underwear).

Awesome sleeping bag. Tested it last weekend on a survival weekend in snow with temperates dropping to -5c. Internal pockets useful for keeping my glasses safe. Kept me lovely and warm and slept right through the night till 6:30am. Centre zip is more convenient than side opening bags and also aids keeping you warm. Fantastic bag would definitely recommend it, even if it takes you a while to save up to purchase this item.

IT TOOK A WHILE TO SAVE UP FOR BUT BOY WAS IT WORTH IT.
EASILY THE BEST, WARMEST, MOST COMFORTABLE SLEEPING BAG I HAVE EVER HAD, AND THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS KEPT MY FEET WARM. EVEN KEEPS ME WARM IN A HAMMOCK WITH A TARP IN OCT/NOV WITHOUT ANY OTHER KIND OF INSULATOR.
CRACKING PEICE OF KIT AND THE CENTRAL ZIP JUST TIES IT ALL UP WITH A NEAT BOW. BANG ON RAY A SUPERD IDEA.

I like to go out and hang in the woods in my hammock all year round. With the cold air underneath, I wanted to get a good, reliable bag. The Golden Eagle Sleeping Bag was great; it's comfortable and the center zip made it easy to get in and out. It was so warm that I didn't even have to do the zip all the way up. Easter was a great weekend away. Thank you for all your support on the phone, you have been so helpful and have a great team.

Fantastic sleeping bag...I bought this for a canoe trip to Scotland, temperatures went down to -9°C and the bag was frozen to my tent in the mornings but I was toasty warm in just a t shirt. I'm a smallish female and usually feel the cold so was very impressed.
