Can't think of a better book for a child who is enthusiastic about nature and being outdoors. Whereas the likes of Bear G sensationalise everything, Ray explains clearly, with no fuss and clear language. It's an excellent book with informative diagrams, very clear instructions, and it's the perfect size for a rucksack pocket.

Lots of new tips and tricks even for someone with experience, recommended!

Purchased this for my grandson who loves the outdoors, I am reading it through myself first and finding it very well written and very informative, I'm sure my grandson will enjoy this book and its contents. Plus the fact that it is signed as he is a great fan of Ray Mears.

Having been a huge fan of Mr Mears for many years, and with a collection of his books, I decided to purchase the Survival Handbook as a Christmas gift for a very dear friend. He was very pleased.

Arrived very promptly in nice sturdy padded envelope. Bought as gift for a friend's son - I think he'll love it, it's great that it's signed (although a personalised 'to' option would have been even better!) and I'm actually a little bit envious :-)

I received the book just a few days after my purchase which I thought I was fast (I live in San Diego CA).
I have had a chance to glance at it, I like how it's structured: with the four seasons as a background, the author details survival skills.
Plus it's autographed by Ray Mears himself, which makes it even more special!
It's my first purchase but won't be the last one, that's for sure.

This book is full of detail and drawings about everything, such as equipment, tools, variety of plants, animals and their tracks, bushcraft technical skills etc. It is easy to understand. Such a good book about outdoor survival, not only in Europe region, but in Asia region too. Highly recommended.

I'm a real fan of Ray Mears and it is very special to receive his book on bushcraft personally signed by Ray himself. The book includes all the information advertised about it and more. Having had the book only a few short weeks, I've been able to try several bushcraft techniques at my home. The book has provided me with a new appreciation of nature and a way to feel a true part of the environment. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn more about the native habitat all around us.

Been looking for a book on survival techniques and this book fits the bill perfectly. Information is broken down into the four seasons which opens your eyes to the variations across the year. Great book for novice and experienced outdoor folk.

Just received my signed copy. It is a real no-nonsense book with clear illustrations and although it contains no colour photographs, the overall quality of its content is not compromised. If you are a novice to the subject, start with this book!

This is a great book - very informative and makes good reading. There are so many helpful tips, enabling us to enjoy the countryside fully and making use of the natural products we have all around us. We live in a wonderful world with so many natural resources at our fingertips - we just need to take a step back from technology and retrace our footprints so that we can regain some of the skills our ancestors had - this books helps usto do this. Full of interesting advice. If you already have the later Ray Mears Essential Bushcraft you probably don't need both.

I only like to order books in hardback that I think someone else will want to read. As I teach my kids about the world around them they will want to read this book and practice it's teachings. It's a super book with great diversity in the subjects it covers. Thanks for writing it Ray.

I've been looking for a way to explore bush-craft in more detail since I found some of Ray Mears videos on YouTube and this book is definitely the way to do it.

The pictures are detailed enough to show you what to do without feeling overdone and they are beautifully drawn. Ray has a lovely way of describing how to do things that it makes you feel comfortable with the process and gives positive reinforcement that you are able to complete the task you have set for yourself.

I'm looking forward to acquiring some of the gear so I can put some of the skills into practice, but it's heart-warming to know that all I really need to start learning how to do bush-craft is this book and a clear, focused mind.

This is a great little book, no colour illustrations, however it is full of great information, set out in seasons, and a joy to read. Also signed as an added bonus. Cant go wrong with Woodlore.
