Explore 6,000-year-old San rock art in the Erongo Mountains and at, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set amid dramatic desert scenery.

The Journey
Day 1-2: Arrival & Erongo Mountains
Arrive under Namibia’s wide African sky and travel by private 4x4 into the dramatic Erongo Mountains
- Explore ancient San rock art sites.
- Visit a local Bushman village.
- Begin your tracking tuition in the field.
- Receive practical wildlife photography guidance.
Your journey begins with awareness, learning how to behave, move and observe in wild country.
Day 3: Damaraland – Desert Giants
Travel northwest into vast Damaraland, where mountains rise from arid plains.
Here you will:

Visit the mysterious San rock engravings at the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Twyfelfontein
- Track desert-adapted elephants
Meeting these giants in such a difficult landscape where people and wildlife must share the precious water resources can be a strangely emotional experience
Days 4-6: Etendeka Mountains – Black Rhino
Visit one of the most arid regions of the basalt mountains, where the semi desert landscape is interspersed with small dry riverbeds and mopane trees.
- Explore the basalt wilderness of the Etendeka Mountains
- Go on foot to track free-roaming black rhinoceros
- Learn from community game guards dedicated to conservation
Few wildlife experiences compare to standing in silence in rhino country.
Days 7–8: Etosha – Africa's Great Wildlife Theatre
Continue east into the region of Etosha National Park, one of Africa's premier wildlife reserves. Hone your skills in one of Africa’s premier wildlife regions. Across salt pans, dry riverbeds and granite kopjes, expect encounters with: Leopard, Elephant, Giraffe, Oryx, Kudu, Hartmann's Mountain Zebra.
The goal is simple:
To read the land well enough to anticipate what lies ahead.
Days 9–10: Central Namibia – Grassland & White Rhino
For your final nights, travel south into Namibia's central region.
Here the terrain shifts to grassland and Acacia thornveld, home to the White Rhino, diverse antelope species, and plains wildlife adapted to open country.
Wherever possible, we leave the vehicle behind, refining the tracking skills you have developed throughout the expedition.

Most lessons happen naturally, in the field, in real time, in response to what the land presents.

Details:
You need to organise your own return flights to Windhoek once you have received the recommended flight details from us. We will arrange to meet you at Windhoek Airport and return you to the airport at the end of your course. Please ensure that you have a valid passport and travel insurance when you travel.
